Leaders in the Turfgrass Community

When in 1945, the Hope family named their new farm “Manderley” after the fictional estate in Daphne Du Maurier’s novel Rebecca, none guessed that their use of the name would one day rival the author’s.

Since its inception in 1959, Manderley has placed the highest value on partnerships with the turfgrass community world-wide. Building on the legacy founded by John Hope, now carried on by his family, the Manderley name continues to be synonymous with turfgrass innovation and research.

Manderley was instrumental in the formation of many turfgrass organizations that serve the turf industry today, such as the International Turf Producers Foundation, the Quebec Sod Growers Association and the Ontario Nursery Sod Growers Association. Recently, Manderley has worked side by side with the Georgia Seed Development Commission (GSDC) and the Georgia Crop Improvement Association (GCIA) to create the International Turfgrass Genetic Assurance Program (ITGAP), which has set a new standard for quality turfgrass-sod production world-wide.

From the beginning, Manderley has supported turfgrass research in Canada, the United States and abroad. Working towards making turfgrasses hardier; more insect- and disease-resistant; more tolerant to shade, drought and alternate irrigation methods; and more durable under stress and extensive usage – our goal is unchanged since we cut our first roll of grass: “Quality, service, value – always.”

In the early 1990’s, Manderley began to diversify their commercial capabilities and began producing specialized high-end premium turfgrass varieties for the golf and sports field markets. In support of these new high-end varieties, Manderley established a new construction and installation division – Manderley Natural Turf Systems, which is now the largest supplier and installer of natural turfgrass solutions to new golf course construction and renovations projects in North America.

In 1998, Manderley took its first step towards another promising venture: marketing turfgrass sod globally. As the recognized leader within the turfgrass industry, Manderley would often receive requests for product, services, and advice from all points across the world.

In 2000, Manderley became the exclusive international agent for the Georgia Seed Development Commission. Our mandate as agent was to introduce four new patented hybrid Bermuda and Sea Shore Paspalum varieties to the market place through the establishment of production facilities around the world.

In 2006, private equity firm, Colonnade Investments, provided Manderley with the capital needed to grow its operations and expand market share in the retail, landscape and golf sectors.

Manderley has grown from a few acres of turfgrass production to 8,000 acres today, and our dedicated team of professionals serves clients in local, national and international markets. We are ready to meet your needs, wherever you are located.
