Winterizing Your Mower

Your mower is a key ingredient to achieving and maintaining a beautiful lawn. With winter right around the corner, most homeowners do not take the appropriate steps to properly store their mowers during the cold months. Winterizing your mower makes a huge impact on the performance and longevity of the machine. A little extra maintenance now will make a big difference in the spring. Here are some tips for preparing your mower for winter:

If you are storing your mower in colder temperatures, drain your fuel tank completely or install a fuel stabilizer.

  1. Changer your oil and check for contaminants.
  2. Inspect your mower - check to see that all bolts are tight and blades are sharp. Now is a great time to make repairs.
  3. Find a safe and stable area to store your mower. To avoid doing damage, do not pile other objects on top.
