“The GCSNP is synonymous with quality. Under this program I know I’m sourcing certified stock that is being grown under stringent protocols by people who understand the challenges and nuances of working in certain conditions. The program is a great tool to maintain quality control on international projects.” — Nicholas Scigliano, Frontier Golf Construction
The Golf Course Site Nurseries Program gives you U.S.-type quality certified turfgrass, worldwide. And, a growing list of architects and superintendents are reaping the benefits of using them.
In the past, sourcing quality sod locally has been tough because of mechanical contamination, misrepresentation of genetics and poor performance of varieties. Site nurseries overcome these obstacles because they are set up and maintained according to a stringent set of guidelines set out by the International Turfgrass Genetic Assurance Program ITGAP.
Here’s a preview of some of the steps taken to ensure purity and consistency.
- Soil sterilization
- Dedicated equipment
- Adherence to production protocols
- Site visits by agronomists (to offer assistance if needed with quality assurance, risk mitigation, troubleshooting, etc)
- Self-inspections
